केरल स्टेट को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक लिमिटेड की शुरुआत 20 वीं सदी की शुरुआत में हुई। वर्ष 1914 में, त्रावणकोर के तत्कालीन महाराजा, महामहिम श्री मूलम तिरुनल रामावर्मा ने एक उद्घोषणा के माध्यम से "त्रावणकोर सहकारी समितियों विनियमन अधिनियम" की शुरुआत की। बैंक को वर्ष 1915 में "त्रिवेंद्रम सेंट्रल को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक" के रूप में पंजीकृत किया गया था जो त्रावणकोर की पूर्व रियासत में गठित होने वाली पहली सहकारी समिति थी। इसने 18 जनवरी 1916 को १,००,००० / - रुपये के १००० शेयर्स से बनी एक शेयर पूँजी के साथ १ Bank जनवरी को कार्य करना शुरू किया। शुरुआत में 16 सहकारी समितियां और 69 व्यक्ति इसके सदस्य थे।
