शैक्षणिक योग्यता (Educational Qualifications):
(i) Post Graduate Degree from a recognized University.
(ii) Bachelor's Degree or three years Diploma in Library Science of a recognized University or Institute; and
(iii) Two years' professional अनुभव in a Library of Standing in Government or Autonomous or Statutory Organisation of Public Sector Undertaking or University or Recognised Research Institutions.

यह कार्मिक एवं प्रशिक्षण विभाग के अधीन कार्य करती है। यद्यपि इसका संगठन फेडरल ब्यूरो ऑफ इन्वेस्टिगेशन से मिलता-जुलता है किन्तु इसके अधिकार एवं कार्य-क्षेत्र एफ् बीआई कीतुलना में बहुत सीमित हैं। इसके अधिकार एवं कार्य दिल्ली विशेष पुलिस संस्थापन अधिनियम (Delhi Special Police Establishment Act), १९४६ से परिभाषित हैं। भारत के लिये सीबीआई ही इन्टरपोल की आधिकारिक इकाई है।
