शैक्षणिक योग्यता (Educational Qualifications):
Assistant Loco Pilot: Matriculation pass plus (a) ITI in specified trades/Act Apprenticeship, OR (b) Diploma in Mechanical /Electrical/Electronic s/Automobile Engineering in lieu of ITI. Note: Specified trades for the purpose of(a) above are as follows:-A) Fitter B) Electrician C) Instrument Mechanic D)Mill Wright/Maintenance Mechanic E) Mechanic(Radio and TV F) Electronics Mechanic G)Mechanic(Motor vehicle) H) Wireman I) Tractor Mechanic J) Armature and Coil winder K) Mechanic(Diesel) L) Heat Engine.Note: Degree in the Engineering disciplines as above will also be acceptable in lieu of Diploma in Engineering.

Train Manager or Goods Guard: Degree from recognised university or its equivalent.

Technician: Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Fitter / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic (Repair and Maintenance of Heavy Vehicles) /Mechanic Automobile (Advanced Diesel Engine) / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Tractor Mechanic / Welder / Painter (OR) Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above.

Junior Engineer: Three years Diploma in (a) Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering OR (b) a combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute.
