8. Eligibility:
Retired Government Servants [Retired Officials - of PSUs or Research Organizations, are eligible to apply. Persons retired under BSNL/MTNL VRS-2019 schemes will not be considered. So, they need not apply. At the time of retirement, the applicant should have held on regular basis the post which is equivalent to MTS. RTEC(ER) Kolkata may speciö' other special eligibility criteria and work अनुभव as per the requirement and in the interest of the service.
9. Duration:
The retired person(s) shall be appointed engaged on a short-term contract basis, initially for a period of six months. Based on his/her performance and requirement of his/her service, the contract can be further extended up to a maximum of six terms (six months each) or sixty-five years of age, whichever is earlier.

Selection Procedure
1. After the preliminary scrutiny regarding the eligibility, the applications of shortlisted candidates will be placed before the selection committee
2. A Three-member Selection Committee would be formed to go through the applications received and draw a panel for the cadre.
3. The Selection Committee may conduct personal or telephonic interview, if required.
4. No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for attending the personal interview
5. Depending upon the number of applications received, Selection Committee may shortlist the best candidates as per the required number of vacancies to be filled during the particular period
6. The committee may also decide the suitability criteria, screening methodology, size of empaneled list, etc. on case to case basis.

Please refer to this office notification No: RTEC/ER/3-19/2021-22 Dated: 25.02.2022 (already Published in DOT /TEC Website) regarding calling for applications from eligible candidates for Engagement as Consultants in Telecommunication Engineering Centre, ER, Kolkata on short- term contract basis.
2. This is to inform that the last date for submission of application is hereby extended from 17-03-2022 to 01-04-2022.
3. There is no change in the rest of terms and conditions. This is for information of all concerned.

पूरे विश्व में दूरसंचार सेवाओं को किसी देश के सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास के लिए महत्वपूर्ण साधन माना गया है। इसीलिए भारत के सामाजिक आर्थिक उद्देश्यों की प्राप्ति के लिए दूरसंचार अवसंरचना एक महत्वपूर्ण कारक माना गया है। तदनुसार, दूरसंचार विभाग दूरसंचार सेवाओं की तेजी से वृध्दि के लिए विकास संबंधी नीतियां बना रहा है। यूनीफाईड एक्सेस सर्विस इंटरनेट और वीसेट सर्विस जैसी विभिन्न दूरसंचार सेवाओं को लाईसेंस प्रदान करने की जिम्मेदारी भी इसी विभाग की है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय निकायों से घनिठ समन्वय स्थापित कर रेड़ियो संचार के क्षेत्र में फ्रीक्वेंसी प्रबंधन की जिम्मेदारी भी इसी विभाग की है। यह विभाग देश में सभी प्रयोर्गकत्ताओं के बेतार पारेण की निगरानी करके बेतार विनियामक उपाय भी लागू करता है।
भारत सरकार ने दूरसंचार के विभिन्नप पहलुओं के समाधान के लिए भारत सरकार की प्रशासनिक और वित्तीय शक्तयों सहित दूरसंचार आयोग की स्थापना11अप्रैल, 1989की अधिसूचना द्वारा की। आयोग एक अध्यक्ष,चार पूर्णकालिक सदस्य,जो कि दूरसंचार विभाग में भारत सरकार के पदेन सचिव हैं,और चार अंशकालिक सदस्य,जो कि संबंधित विभागों में भारत सरकार के सचिव हैं,से मिलकर बना है। आयोग का गठन निम्नानुसार है:
