शैक्षणिक योग्यता (Educational Qualifications):
Professor: Fourteen years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD/MS in the respective discipline/Subject or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. OR Twelve years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned after obtaining the degree of M.Ch./D.M. (2 years or 5 years course recognized after MBBS) in the respective discipline/Subject or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto. OR Eleven years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned for the candidates possessing 3 years recognized Degree of D.M./M.Ch. in the respective discipline/Subject or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Additional Professor: Ten years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD/MS or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Associate Professor: Six years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD/MS or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
Assistant Professor:
i) A medical qualification included in Schedule I & II or part II of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (candidates possessing the qualifications included in Part-II of the third Scheduled should also fulfill the conditions specified in Section 13(3) of the Act). ii) A postgraduate qualification i.e. M.D in Anesthesiology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.
iii) Three years teaching and/or research अनुभव from a recognized Institution in the subject/discipline concerned after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD in Anesthesiology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान पटना माननिये पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपई जी का सपना है, जिन्हो ने देश के छह नए एम्स देने का फैसला किया, जहाँ आधुनिक चिकित्सा पद्धति का लाभ हर जरुरत मंद व्यक्ति को निम्न दरो पर मिल सके . १६ जुलाई २०१२ को लागू नियमो के तहत एम्स पटना वजूद में आया. इसके बाद २ जुलाई २०१३ को अधिनियम (संसोधन) २०१२ बना. छह पैकेज के अंतर्गत एम्स का निर्माण कार्य २०१० में सुरु हुआ. काम छह संकुल के तहत स्वास्थय एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय की परियोजना निगरानी इकाई द्वारा छह संकुल के निर्माण के साथ २०१० में शुरु किया गया. जो अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान परियोजना के रूप मैं जाना जाता है. अलग अलग स्थलों पर परियोजना प्रबंधन की कमान स्वास्थय एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय, डीपीआर, परियोजना सलाहकार और ठेकेदारो की ओर से अधीक्षण अभियंताओ ने संभाली.
